The British Beer Writers Guild and Good Beer Hunting are teaming up to launch a new diversity fellowship open to current and future UK-based writers and journalists.
The grant will serve as a platform and highlight stories that celebrate diversity and inclusion within beer, pubs and the wider hospitality industry. In keeping with the spirit of this grant, we are particularly interested in hearing from those who are not always well represented in the broader beer landscape, including women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+ people, and people with disabilities. We also welcome introductions from people who are new to or looking for a career in beer writing, brewing, pubs and the beverage industry in general.
Three winners will be selected by David Jesudason, director of the British Guild of Beer Writers, and the Good Beer Hunting editorial team. Each will receive £350, work with David and GBH on several rounds of edits, have artwork to accompany their work and have their latest article published on Good Beer Hunting and later reposted on the Guild of British Beer Writers. website. After publication, each winner will be interviewed for the Good Beer Hunting podcast about their story.
Winners will additionally be awarded one year of associated membership in the British Guild of Beer Writers, including access to training, events and rewards, and will be invited to participate in a Zoom Members Roundtable on their stories. They will also receive one year of membership in Fervent Few, GBH’s community of subscribers.
