Foundation donates books and writing materials to students in Makoko – The Sun Nigeria

The Elizabeth Osayande Foundation, a non-governmental organization, will donate books and other writing materials to students at Divine Wisdom Nursery and Primary School, House on Lagoon, Makoko Water Front, Yaba, Lagos on Thursday, February 24 2022.

The donation follows the story of a 23-year-old who provided free education to 147 students in Makoko.
This is part of a series of events to mark the first anniversary of the foundation.

The NGO, formerly known as We Rise Foundation, was launched last year to celebrate journalist Elizabeth Osayande’s birthday by reaching out to disadvantaged communities, especially women and children.

According to the founder, “The whole purpose of creating this foundation for me is to give back to the community. My siblings and I grew up in a place you could describe as a semi-slum, Orile Sari Iganmu, and we weren’t restricted due to the education and empowerment we received. We believe that with the right education and exposure, children in underserved communities can grow up, have dreams, and achieve them.

“Thus, our mandate is to empower underserved communities to meet immediate needs; give them a voice and tools to contribute to the well-being of society. It is our belief that by helping each other, we all rise. “Osayande said.
