Writing materials

Where are things now in the writing process?

If you’re like us, then you can’t wait for more news on Succession season 4 sooner rather than later. The question becomes whether or not we are going to get it! We know there are plenty of stories to come in the world of the Roy family, and it looks like the ones we’re pretty close to are largely set.

Speaking earlier this month to Variety, creator Jesse Armstrong noted that they’ve “nearly finished writing Season 4, here in London, with the American writers coming in… It’s a really great group of people to talk about the nuances of the character and of the world and what we do on the show. Clearly, this is a hopeful sign that filming will begin soon.

So how soon will that be? Earlier this year there were rumors of a June debut and based on the current state of the scripts, that seems entirely possible. Otherwise, we could also envision the series kicking off in July.

The reason so much of the writing is done in advance for a show like this is pretty simple: it’s complex and deep! There’s a lot of content that writers have to get into and of course they want to make sure they’re telling those stories and telling them all right. It also gives actors time to prepare, especially those who want to learn about the material well in advance.

For now, we think a late 2022/early 2023 release window for Season 4 seems likely.
